On 22 March 2019, the Board of the Section of Medicinal Chemistry of the KNCV will award the Dutch Medicinal Chemistry Prize 2017-2018 during the section meeting in Utrecht. This prize, consisting of a certificate, a small sculpture, and a EUR 1,000 cash prize made available by Mercachem BV, is awarded bi-annually to the author of the best dissertation in the field of medicinal chemistry[i] published between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2018. Both authors of dissertations and authors of other scientific publications (or a series of publications) that have been processed in an industrial context and are of similar length and importance but have not resulted in a dissertation, can compete for the prize.
The prize is awarded by an independent expert judging panel appointed by the Board of the Section. Prevalent quality criteria for scientific research, including originality, creativity, groundbreaking nature, practical perspectives and presentation of research results are taken into account in the assessment.
Persons who deem to be eligible for the Dutch Medicinal Chemistry Prize should submit the following documents to the secretary of the Section: five copies of dissertation paper plus one electronic copy, CV and letter of recommendation (e.g. by relevant promotor). Please contact the Section of Medicinal Chemistry if you know of someone who might be eligible for the prize. Nominations by third parties, such as promotors and department heads, are also appreciated. The winner is expected to present the award-winning research at the spring symposium on 22 March 2019 in Utrecht.
The closing date for entries is 5 January 2019. Send your entry to the secretary of the division, Dr. P. Molenveld (Mercachem, Postbus 6747, 6503 GE Nijmegen; peter.molenveld@mercachem.com).
