The Division Medicinal Chemistry of the KNCV is a member of the Federation Innovation Drug Research Netherlands (FIGON, www.figon.nl). FIGON is a platform that promotes interactions among various research areas involved in the development of new, innovative medicines.
Faithful to tradition, the Division Medicinal Chemistry will organise a Medicinal Chemistry session on Monday during the FIGON Dutch Medicines Days (www.figondmd.nl). The programme includes a number of presentations on a wide range of disciplines of medicinal chemistry, from molecular modelling and organic synthesis to vitro assays and preclinical studies. In addition to providing an opportunity for young scientists to present their work, the session also provides a platform for SMEs to build relationships between academics and industry. PhD students who give a presentation on their ongoing research project will be contenders for the KNCV Medicinal Chemistry Presentation Award. The winner will represent The Netherlands at the Young Medicinal Chemist Symposium (YMCS) of the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC), and receives a travel grant of max € 1200 to attend this symposium and the EFMC symposium prior to YMCS. FIGON Dutch Medicines Days also includes a poster session. The KNCV Medicinal Chemistry Poster Prize worth € 200 will be awarded by FIGON to the best medicinal chemistry poster.
